President-Elect Candidate Dan Matusiewicz
I have more than 25 years of municipal experience in public finance, treasury, accounting and financial reporting. I currently manage a $300 million budget, $220 million investment portfolio and have issued and refunded numerous debt obligations for the City of Newport Beach. I was one of the first non-CalPERS staff members invited to speak at the CalPERS Education forum and have been a guest speaker at numerous professional association conferences and meetings including the CSMFO, GIOA, SACA and Leadership Tomorrow. I have also been a contributor to the CSMFO magazine and webinars. I started my career in public accounting specializing in local government audits. I have a bachelor's of science degree in accounting from the Leavey School of business at Santa Clara University. I have an Investment Foundations Certificate from the CFA Institute and am completing the CCMT program this year.
I have a wide vast array of municipal finance experience and would be pleased to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of Finance Directors and Treasurers. I personally look forward to learning and growing with the CMTA members sharing in their knowledge and experiences. If I am elected, I would challenge myself and each other to learn from our successes, challenges and failures to further our profession.
