CMTA Conversations December 19, 2019: When and How to Use Short-Term Investments vs. Bank Accounts

Description: How much should your local agency keep liquid at the bank? And where do you put the rest? This session walks you through this important decision making process of making sure the right funds are put to work for your bottom line. This session also breaks down the differences between a money market fund or local government investment pool (LGIP) versus a demand deposit account at the bank so that you understand all your options and when one may be more appropriate than another. 

Objectives:

•           Identify differences between a money market fund, LGIP and a bank account
•           List Code-permitted options for short-term investing
•           Describe the process of completing a cash flow analysis and how the results should be used
