CMTA leadership has been monitoring the evolving coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) situation, especially in relation to our upcoming annual conference scheduled on April 22-24, 2020 at the Marriott San Mateo.  After Governor Newsom declared a state of emergency last week in response to the public health threat of COVID-19 and his Executive Order which includes significant concerns with large gatherings, we held a call today to evaluate options on the conference including a possible postponement or cancellation.  CMTA leadership is in discussion with the hotel and will make a final determination at our Board meeting next Wednesday.  Know that our participants’ health and safety remain our top priority.

If you have any input or seek further information at this time, please do not hesitate to contact me ( or CMTA Executive Administrator Yelena Martynovskaya (  Thank you for your patience as we work through this difficult decision.  We will send out an update immediately following our board meeting.

Stay safe.
Don Patterson, CCMT
President, CMTA Board of Directors
